Quingilli:
Queen of the High Country

Perched high on the hillside, Queen Quingilli (as we like to call her) was the very first home built on Ravensbourne Escape’s Hillside Estate. Standing proud for over 20 years, this home boasts a rich history. With unobstructed 180 degree views, a spacious interior and large timber balcony, this luxury home has become a firm favourite among our guests.

Over the last few months Quingilli has had a makeover and to celebrate, we sat down with the new owners and asked them some questions about this magnificent property.

RE: WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT QUINGILLI’S HISTORY?

Q: Quingilli is named after the quaint town of the same name which sits 34km south of Cairns in the locality of Aloomba. This is where the original owners used to reside while earning a living from the sugar cane harvesting industry back in the 1950s. On returning to Southeast Queensland, Quingilli was built and named as a homage to the family’s past.

RE: WHAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PROPERTY?

Q: There’s so much about Quingilli that we love, but it was the views that captured our hearts! Architecturally designed and inspired by the bordering bushland, this gorgeous home was built to optimise its panoramic surrounds. The house overlooks surrounding forests, Lockyer Valley and Northern New South Wales and these views are magnificent year round. Whether the sky’s blue and beaming, misty with rain, laden with clouds, or flickering with flashes of lightning – it’s a view you’ll never forget!

RE: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURES?

Q: Our favourite features would have to be the polished hardwood floors, the timber balcony and of course the lofted master bedroom. We also love our surrounding landscape. The property sits next to a magnificent 150 year-old camphor laurel. While not native, these trees became massively popular at the turn of the twentieth century and have since gained historical significance in the Toowoomba region.

The property is also fronted by a beautiful banksia which is a favourite among our resident yellow-tailed black cockatoos. We love seeing them flock to the banksia during the cooler months and enjoy a feed!

RE: WHAT CHANGES HAVE YOU MADE RECENTLY?

Q: Over the last few months Queen Quingilli has had a massive makeover. We wanted to refresh the home, without taking away from its quaint country charm. We put in new carpets and a cosy new log fire, renovated the timber deck, and repainted the interiors to refresh and brighten the space.

Drawing further inspiration from the surrounding landscape, we added fresh decor throughout, including a new dining suite, lounge furniture and outdoor furniture, as well as beautiful bedding and accessories in all three bedrooms.

We’ve also had a technological revamp! We added new sound system, smart TV and Wi-Fi via satellite so you can stay connected with the world while you’re here. We also installed a type 2 EV charger in the carport to accommodate guests who drive electric vehicles.

RE: Do you have any future plans for Quingilli?

Q: Eventually we want to add a spa to the property, so guests can enjoy a bit of R&R while taking in the magnificent views. We’d also like to add a firepit in the garden so friends and family can enjoy cool nights by the fireside – chatting, relaxing and toasting some marshmallows. Heaven!
